CenturyLink makes the connection

CenturyLinkCenturyLink after acquiring Qwest in 2011, launched a $45 million broadband improvement project in Oregon.  Crews fanned out over east Medford in an area roughly bounded by Delta Waters Road to the north, Hillcrest Road to the south, Crater Lake Avenue to the west and Foothill Road to the east. CenturyLink estimates the project will continue through 2016 and likely into 2017, taking in Ashland, Talent and other area markets.

In recent months, up to 10 CenturyLink crews have been under the Medford streets, laying new fiber-optic lines.  Data Center West was upgraded in July to the Metro Ethernet fiber network.  "We now have more flexibility in how we can expand and best of all, it is nearly half the cost" says David Hand, CIO at Data Center West, Inc.   Serveral technology companies, including Data Center West, had been working for years to encorage QWest to upgrade their Medford network to QMoe (QWest Metro Ethernet).  Portland, Salem and Eugene has had QMOE for years.  Saving NW businesses thousands of dollars a month for QWest enterprise network services.
